DESCRIPTION
American PublicTelevision and Alabama Public Television are offering a series of summer train-the-trainer workshops for upper elementary, secondary and pre-service teachers. Each workshop uses episodes from the Emmy Award-winning documentary series The Future of America’s Past to model how teachers can develop learning resources to increase student media literacy and critical thinking skills through digital humanities projects that feature primary source/archival materials. Workshops will be led by Annie Evans from New American History with presentations from local historical sites and museum partners.
DETAILS
The three-day workshops will be offered at two locations, as well as a virtual option. Educators will work collaboratively using digital resources and will need a laptop or tablet to fully participate. Lunch will be provided each day for in-person attendees. Please register using the form below.
Educators who attend one of the three-day in-person workshops will receive a $125 stipend for completing a set of inquiry-based learning resources. These resources will be shared freely with educators in Alabama, and through the PBS LearningMedia and New American History networks. (Stipends are not currently available for virtual participants). All participants will receive professional development credit.
For more information, contact Tracey Carter or Cody Carlton.
