Iowa's Growing Problem

There's a movement in the state to return to more sustainable farming practices. Iowa produces more corn and soybeans than almost any other state, but it's come at a cost. Industrial farming - almost exclusively of these two crops - has left the land vulnerable to erosion and flooding, while chemical runoff is contaminating the state's drinking water supplies. But there's a growing movement of Iowa farmers embracing more sustainable practices. They're planting more diverse crops for a longer period of the year, and in some cases even restoring land to the original prairie, in a bid to save Iowa's precious soil and water. NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Mark Bittman reports.
