4 Kid-Friendly Summer Activities You Can Do at Home

What can you do with kids at home for the summer? These family fun activities from PBS Kids are sure to keep the boredom away!

By Rebecca Binfold, B.S.

Do you ever find yourself wondering what you should do on a summer day with kids? Whether you like to be outside exploring or inside staying cool, PBS KIDS has many games to keep boredom away!

Outdoor Safety with Work It Out Wombats

Before spending time outdoors, it’s important to talk about how to stay safe while playing in the sun. Zadie, Malik and Zeke from “Work It Out Wombats” show us how to get ready for a pool day. Ask your child to pack their own bag for a pool day or a play date in the park!

Kid-Friendly Nature Walk with Daniel Tiger

In this game, you will help Daniel Tiger choose what to pick up on a nature walk. Talk with your child about what can be taken inside and what should stay outside. When you get home, you can make a nature journal with drawings of what you found together!

Summer Parade with Peg + Cat

With summer comes celebrations! The Peg + Cat crew gather 10 friends to have a parade in the summer sun. You can throw your own summer parade or find a special day to celebrate using the National Day Calendar here.

Karaoke Night with Jelly, Ben & Pego

If you have performers in your family, karaoke night will be a hit! Jelly, Ben and Pogo take turns creating their own karaoke songs. Make up your own songs using household items as instruments or sing the classics!

Summer is for downtime, but that doesn’t mean kids stop learning. In fact, teaching life skills and fostering creativity can be fun for the whole family!
