Salt and Pepper Roots Celebration

Recorded live in Florence, this new series presents terrific performances in a variety of music genres.

PREMIERES THURSDAY, FEB. 6 at 10:00PM

A few years ago we were pleased to introduce a music special featuring the great Bobby Rush that was recorded at the University of North Alabama in Florence. It was part of a live concert series called Salt & Pepper Roots Music Celebration, and a year later we aired a second special with Birmingham's Eric Essix.  Based on the positive reaction to the specials, we're now excited to introduce and 8-part series!

The Salt and Pepper Roots Music Celebration brings local, regional, and national traditional music genres together to celebrate the diversity at the roots of the American Soundtrack. Tune in to hear examples of Blues, Americana, Celtic, Gospel and more. We kick off this week with Earl “Guitar” Williams in a performance from April of 2023.  Earl, who hails from Bessemer, draws inspiration for his songwriting from his clients at the salon he operates in Birmingham. In this episode of the celebration, he performs songs like “I Woke Up This Morning” and “How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You.”

Other artists this month include:

Pierce Pettis (Americana) on 2/13
Debbie Bond & Radiator Rick (Blues) on 2/20
Soul Karnival (Hip-Hop/Rap) on 2/27.
