Airing on Friday, March 21 at 3:00 PM CYRANO DE BERGERAC features José Ferrer as Cyrano, a role that won him an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1950. In this memorable Golden Age film, Cyrano is admired by his men for his courage, swordsmanship and mighty wit but he is hopelessly lost in love and unable to profess his feelings to the beautiful Roxane out of fear he will be rejected because of his appearance. In this 1950 adaptation of the Broadway play, Ferrer plays the role a second time, being the first actor to win an Oscar for the same role that won him a Tony.
The following week on Friday, March 28 at 3:00 PM airs A FAREWELL TO ARMS, a 1932 film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s classic novel starring Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes.
