Josh Groban Helps Kickoff Our Summer Celebration

Josh Groban's concert from London's Union Chapel on Great Performances launches our Summer 2026 season and fundraising drive.

MONDAY, JUNE 1 at 8:30PM

Alabama Public Television has introduced viewers to hundreds of amazing performers over the years, including a young fellow named Josh Groban a couple of decades back.  Now, Josh Groban returns to PBS in a special, personal concert staged in the intimate and historic setting of London’s Union Chapel. Recorded in October 2025, the concert captures the acclaimed vocalist showcasing his most beloved songs alongside new material, all reimagined within the chapel’s acoustics. Between songs, Groban speaks about what makes these songs personal to him, even recounting the transformative moment when he met Celine Dion.

GREAT PERFORMANCES: Josh Groban: An Evening at Union Chapel is a reminder of the incredible quality and variety of music you find on APT thanks to the financial support of viewers, and as we begin a new season of PBS summer favorites without federal funding, your contribution is more important than ever.  Please help FILL THE GAP with a new or additional gift today.

APT’s board of directors, the Alabama Educational Television Commission, voted in April to continue PBS programming indefinitely, and we begin a new annual contract with PBS in July.

In addition to Josh Groban, there is plenty more to celebrate this coming week, including music from the Fab Four and Brit Floyd (both with ticket opportunities for live concerts coming to Alabama), Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp and Billy Joel.  America’s Home Cooking brings us “Flavors of the Fourth” and Antiques Roadshow celebrates “250 Years of Americana.” Explore the stories of women who broke codes and split atoms, gathered news, crossed front lines and rescued children in Women of World War II: More Untold Stories.  And as we approach the popular Masterpiece Mystery series’ 11th and final season, join us June 7 for Our Favorite Things About Grantchester.

Of local interest, we have a one-hour Garden Party special celebrating Alabama’s Gulf Coast and seafood on Thursday, June 4. Join host Trace Barnett as he goes south to the seafood capital of Alabama, Bayou La Batre, to meet shrimp farmers on their home “surf” before ferrying across the bay to Gulf Shores. While there, Trace checks out a locally owned favorite, award-winning De Soto’s Seafood Kitchen, and learns to cook fish with the pros.

Passport members will enjoy early access to a brand new season of Patience beginning May 31. Look for the broadcast premiere on Sunday, June 14th along with Grantchester Season 11 on Masterpiece.
