High School Football

Our regular season coverage of Alabama high school football begins this Thursday and Friday with live games from the Crampton Bowl in Montgomery.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY at 7:00PM

Our expanded coverage of Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) football begins this week with the AHSAA Kickoff Classic on Aug. 21 & 22.

The Kickoff Classic opener on Thursday, Aug. 21, features a match up between Prattville and Pike Road. Prattville, which had the best winning percentage (91.2%) of any school in the AHSAA from 2000-2009, hasn’t won a playoff game since 2019. The Pike Road program has won at least 10 games in five of the last six seasons. The Patriots finished 10-4 last season reaching the Class 6A semifinals. They won the Class 5A state title in 2021 and have compiled a 53-13 record in this decade.

Fyffe and Maplesville are each making their second appearance in the Kickoff Classic on Friday night at the Crampton Bowl. Fyffe coach Paul Benefield has built the Red Devils into one of the AHSAA’s most successful and consistent programs, winning seven state titles.

Football coverage will include pre-game shows from 5pm to 6pm and games will begin at 7pm following the PBS News Hour.
