During her acceptance speech, Monograph Series Producer Lisa Cordes emphasized the importance of this Emmy Award for public media and her team members, many of whom were laid off last October, including herself.

“This means more than any of you can know. This show, unfortunately, no longer exists, and half of these people were laid off because of cuts to funding and CPB. This show meant the world to me. Public media deserves better,” Cordes said on stage.

Last year’s federal budget cuts, along with the shuttering of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), hit public media stations across the nation hard.

APT’s original series highlighting local arts, culture and music (MonographJourney Proud and Subcarrierrespectively) were canceled, and 15% of agency staff, including several members of the production staff, were laid off.

The final episode of Monograph aired in November 2025 and included a farewell message from the crew. Learn more about the final season here.
