Interning with Alabama Public Television Digital Media Department
Department Description:
Alabama Public Television’s Digital Media Department is responsible for managing APT’s digital media footprint including APT’s website, YouTube, social media, and digital video library and app. Digital Media acts as a centralized hub for APT digital needs and works with content creators across all APT departments.
Internship Description:
This internship primarily consists of video editing for social media platforms; encoding, formatting and organizing digital video files; creating/formatting graphics; using a content management system (CMS) for updating websites; and attending filming shoots when possible. APT seeks to provide a solid educational experience to participants by broadening their understanding of public television and every level of professional digital media production.
Responsibilities may include:
- Editing and/or reformatting videos for use on Social Media platforms.
- Exporting files in a variety of formats for digital distribution.
- Creating graphics and other content for web, social and mobile platforms.
- Updating legacy content on YouTube, brainstorm lifestyle-focused blog topics, and create YouTube Shorts from longer content.
- Video production assistance on location.
Qualifications:
The candidate must be currently enrolled in college and ideally a Digital Media, New Media, Film/TV, or Digital Design major. They should have strong computer and troubleshooting skills and be able to work independently in a technical environment with little supervision. Basic working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and Canva required. Hootsuite experience a plus.
