Sunday, Jan. 6 at 3:00pm

A high-quality early education provides the foundation for student success throughout their school journey. Having a seamless learning continuum from pre-K to 3rd grade aligns and integrates a comprehensive educational approach to student learning during the critical years when children have the greatest growth potential. Alabama P-3, Sunday, January 6 at 3:00pm on Alabama Public Television, provides insight into Alabama’s successes in early education.

Alabama’s nationally recognized Pre-K through 3rd grade integrated approach to early learning, known as “P-3”, is based on three main components: assessment, instruction and leadership - that together can provide a way for more children to achieve success by the end of third grade. Alabama P-3 presents highlights from the 2017 National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Leadership Academy in Montgomery, where state educators reported on recent achievements in their schools and districts as a model for others.

The NAESP Pre-K-3 Leadership Academy is the first national evidence-based, blended-learning program to provide elementary principals, that serve pre-k through 3rd grade students, with next-generation professional learning and support. The program was designed to help states and districts provide a high-quality early childhood educational experiences for every child. The NAESP P-3 Leadership Academy is sponsored in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education, Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools and the National Association of Elementary School Principals, and supported by the Governor’s “Strong Start Strong Finish” education initiative.
