Alabama Craft: Tradition and Innovation is an original APT documentary in two parts that samples the works, visions and philosophies of seven Alabama artists. Produced in partnership with the Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA), Alabama Craft focuses on the work of potters Jerry Brown and Charles Smith, quilters Mozell Benson and Bettye Kimbrell, glassblower Cal Breed, musical instrument maker Gene Ivey, and blacksmith John Phillips.
The camera follows the artists, exploring the creative process from conception through creation. How does the indigenous social, cultural, historical and physical environment of Alabama infuse the art of these masters? (Part 2 of 2)
