WLRH Public Radio in Huntsville, Alabama (a licensee of Alabama Public Television) seeks an experienced sales professional with radio sales experience to assist in continued development of corporate support for one of the Southeast’s leading broadcast entities. WLRH Public Radio is Alabama’s original public radio station with deep connections to the Tennessee Valley’s cultural community.
This position will focus on maintaining and growing underwriting revenues and major gifts through the sale of on-air sponsorships for WLRH programs and events. This will require building and maintaining business and individual relationships across our community to support the WLRH service missions of Education, Civic Duty and Public Safety.
The ideal candidate will have an intimate knowledge of public radio programming and the WLRH program schedules, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales with a proven track record, should be organized, task oriented, a self-starter, and understand the difference in sales for commercial stations versus sales for non-commercial, public broadcasting. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, experience working with non-profit agencies, social media and local contacts are also a plus. The position covers communities around Huntsville, and across North Central Alabama and South-Central Tennessee. This is a salaried position with no commission. Employment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable background and credit check.
