The YWCA Central Alabama -- under the leadership of newly appointed CEO, RaSheda Workman -- is spreading holiday cheer to families in need and making a positive impact all year long. The YWCA Central Alabama is currently preparing for its annual Santa’s Workshop which brings holiday joy to more than 400 children and their families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and the need for affordable childcare. On December 7, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., YWCA staff and countless volunteers will offer these families the holiday celebration they deserve by providing breakfast, holiday crafts, games, and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Families will also receive age-appropriate books and gift cards to help fulfill their needs during the holiday season. Santa’s Workshop supports the YWCA’s Child Development Center, which provides a safe, nurturing environment and high-quality early learning opportunities to some of Birmingham's most vulnerable children. It helps meet their basic needs from nutritious meals to clothing and hygiene -- all at little or no cost to families.
