Game Overview

“It’s hard to get there the first time and even harder to get there the second time,” said Central Phenix City Flag Football Coach Mitchell Holt. “We’re excited to have the chance to go back and to win again.”

Central Phenix City is the top ranked flag football team in the state and is ranked 2nd nationally. Spain Park is ranked as the 4th best flag football team in Alabama and ranked 21^st nationally.

“We have 26 girls on our team and only seven of them are returnees from last season,” said Spain Park coach Robert Starr. “In previous years, we only had 14 to 15 girls on the team.”

Team Preview: Central-Phenix City Red Devils

The Lady Red Devils are accustomed to winning. They ripped through this season with a perfect 18-0 record. Their closest game was a 21-point victory. In the season, Central averaged 44 points per game and gave up an average of just over 2-points per game.

Gerritt Griggs leads the Lady Devils' high powered offense. Her favorite target is Natalyn Lumpkin, who is the leading scorer in the state. Ally Supan anchors a tenacious defense, and she has over 100 flag pulls for the year. When the ball is in the air, defensive back Colby Cook is ball hawking it. She has over 10 interceptions for the year. Maryiah Harrison may be the Red Devils Swiss army knife. She's not only the back-up quarterback and wide receiver but also plays safety on defense.

Team Preview: Spain Park Jaguars

Spain Park started to gel at just the right time. The Lady Jaguars finished the year at 14-4-1. During the play-offs, Spain Park exacted revenge on Vestavia and Trussville—two teams who beat the Jaguars earlier in the year. Both regular season defeats ended with the mercy rule being applied. However, the Lady Jags remedied that in the playoffs.

The Lady Jaguars are led by quarterback Jenna Kate Hutchinson and her favorite receiver Chenell Hunter, who also plays defensive back for the Jags.

Final Thoughts
