The Delta variant of COVID-19 has led to a surge in coronavirus infections in Alabama at the same time students are returning to schools. Join CAPITOL JOURNAL on September 9 for a special program addressing the continuing health crisis.

We'll speak to state health officials and health professionals about the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations in halting the pandemic, which has filled intensive care units across the state to capacity. Guests will include:

State Health Officer, Dr. Scott Harris
Dr Mary McIntyre, Chief Medical Officer of the AL Dept. of Public Health
Dr. Greg Ayers  of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama
Dr. Don Williamson - Alabama Hospital Association

We’ll also be joined by Senator Randy Price of Opelika, who was gravely ill from COVID.

Viewers with questions about COVID and vaccinations can call the Alabama's Department of Public Health Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm at 1-800-270-7268. Questions can also be emailed to [email protected]. More information on COVID and vaccinations in the state is available at Alabama Public Health online.

CAPITOL JOURNAL has closely tracked the pandemic in Alabama from the very beginning, with updates from Dr. Harris every week and conversations with health experts and other state leaders including Governor Ivey. See past episodes.
