Forty years ago, THIS OLD HOUSE invented homebuilding TV as they restored a classic Victorian home in Dorchester, MA. Now they return to tackle the complete renovation of a fire-damaged “triple-decker” in Dorchester.
Carol Wideman, a well-known matriarch in her community, purchased the home in 1980. For 40 years, Carol raised her family and fostered children in this home before a fire completely ravaged it on July 4, 2019. Miraculously, no one was injured in the blaze, but Carol’s 1905 wood-frame triplex was left uninhabitable.
Join Kevin O'Connor and all of the THIS OLD HOUSE team for engaging lessons in construction history, repairing fire damage, new building materials and more. Episodes will also broadcast on our Create Channel.
