Dr. Briana Morton is the Vice President of Education, the largest department at Alabama Public Television. She oversees APT’s K-12 educational staff and initiatives ranging from PBS Learning Media for classrooms to online professional development for teachers and administrators, to the Early Childhood Education department which works with parents, teachers, and caregivers across the state.
Dr. Morton collaborates with schools and community partners throughout Alabama to ensure that educational content is impactful and relevant. In 2023, she initiated the APT Excellence in Education Teacher of the Month program to recognize classroom teachers in grades K-12. She played a key role in the development of the APT Certified Educator Program, which provides professional learning opportunities for teachers and encourages them to support other teachers interested in using PBS Learning Media and other APT resources.
Prior to joining APT, Dr. Morton held positions as an assistant principal, a teacher, and the executive director of College Admissions Made Possible. She holds M.ED degrees in Secondary Education and Teacher Leadership from the University of Montevallo, and an Ed.D in Instructional Leadership from Samford University.
