Alabama Public Television Heats Up Birmingham with Great Barbecue & Music

Alabama Public Television is smokin’ things up this Spring with its inaugural GREAT ALABAMA PUBLIC TELEVISION BARBECUE COOK-OFF, Sunday, May 5th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Back Forty Beer Company, located next to Birmingham’s historic Sloss Furnaces. Tickets, which include barbecue lunch and music, are $25 each or $80 for a family 4-pack and are available at aptv.org/bbq.
This family-friendly event will be a delicious competition featuring 20 barbecue teams vying for prizes and trophies. While the judges decide which team will take home the top prize, attendees can enjoy delicious barbecue plates and live music by Alabama favorites Three on a String and Sean of the South. A children’s area will offer PBS Kids activities.
Three on a String – featuring Bobby Horton, Jerry Ryan, Brad Ryan and Andy Meginiss - has been delighting audiences in Alabama and around the country for more than 50 years. Writer/columnist/podcaster and Southern storyteller Sean Dietrich, known to millions as Sean of the South, brings his own brand of music and fun. Sean’s new television show, Sean of the South on the Air, premieres on APT on May 10.
