This week Alabama Public Television presents a flavorful double feature celebrating the heart and soul of Alabama barbecue. Norton Dill's film Q – ALABAMA’S BARBECUE LEGENDS explores the full range of barbecue flavors across the state, and the GREAT ALABAMA PUBLIC TELEVISION BARBECUE COOK-OFF provides a sampling of some great barbecue set to the incredible music and storytelling of Three on a String and Sean of the South.
As much of a rivalry as an Alabama-Auburn football game, the barbecue scene in Alabama boasts an array of flavors, each uniquely tailored to the state’s taste. Ready to impress even the most discerning barbecue aficionado, Alabama’s barbecue joints take center stage in Norton Dill’s documentary, Q – ALABAMA’S BARBECUE LEGENDS. Sunday afternoon we invite barbecue enthusiasts and families to indulge in a mouthwatering competition featuring 20 barbecue teams showcasing their smoky creations. Join us at Back Forty Beer Company across from historic Sloss Furnace in Birmingham from Noon until 4:00pm. Tickets are $25 each or $80 for a family 4-pack and include a delicious barbecue lunch and live entertainment by local favorites Three on a String and Sean of the South. Attendees can sample great barbecue from the competing teams while enjoying live performances and engaging PBS Kids activities for the little ones. Plus, witness the excitement as we crown the champions of the GREAT ALABAMA PUBLIC TELEVISION BARBECUE COOK-OFF!
