DIY SCIENCE TIME SEASON 3

Learning science is fun and it’s even better when it’s DIY!  Join Mister C and the Science Crew for DIY Science Time to be inspired to explore the amazing world of science through “do-it-yourself” science experiments that will have you building, designing and creating.  Most importantly, DIY Science Time provides fun and authentic learning experiences!

Alabama Public Television and Mister C, LLC have partnered to produce DIY Science Time, a program created by Kevin Cornell, Ed.S, and Heather Cornell.  DIY Science Time is hosted by Mister C, a science-loving, STEM-driven educator who enjoys investigating the world through experiments, demonstrations, and activities in his home. Each DIY-venture is inspired by everyday science phenomenon that sparks Mister C’s interest in a topic! Viewers are invited to be part of Mister C’s Science Crew and are encouraged to follow along and experiment with various DIY science projects that use simple, common everyday household materials.

Mister C’s science crew is quite the animated bunch!  Literally! These four animated science crew members support Mister C during each show.  Alfred, Rylee, London and Lyla work as a team to help Mister C during his science endeavors and keep everything on track!  Throughout the series, Mister C models his thinking through metacognition and reminds students that failures and mistakes are important and acceptable parts of doing science. Through targeted learning experiences that take place in Mister C’s kitchen and home, DIY Science Time reminds everyone that learning is fun and that “Science is wherever you are!”

#301 Robots
Join Mister C and the Science Crew to learn all about robots. We’ll be building an artbot, brushbot and robot hand! Plus, we’ll be taking a field trip to Yaskawa Motoman to meet an engineer who programs and uses robots to weld!

#302 Birds
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they explore all things birds. We’ll be building a bird feeder and monocular to observe birds. Plus, we’ll be taking a field trip to the Glen Helen Raptor Center to meet an ornithologist!

#303 LIfe Cycles
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they dive into the world of life cycles! We’ll be growing caterpillars, releasing butterflies and planting plants. Plus, we’ll be taking a field trip to Wright State University to meet a microbiologist!

#304 Fire Department
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they explore the amazing world of firefighters and EMTs. We’ll be visiting Miami Township Fire and EMS to meet firefighters and learn about the amazing rescue tools and vehicles they use to help their community. And, we’ll be building a scissors lift using hydraulics!

#305 Caverns
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they travel underground. We'll go on a field trip to the Ohio Caverns to see the beauty of stalactite and stalagmite formations and so much more. We’ll also be making our very own geodes and rock candies!

#306 Science Magic
Abraca-Science! Join Mister C and the Science Crew for this magical episode where we explore magic and learn that the secret to doing amazing magic might actually be science. We’ll learn the secrets of how to make the coolest magic tricks together!

#307 Video
Go behind the scenes with Mister C and the Science Crew as they dive into the amazing world of video! We’ll be building a zoetrope and learning how to use a green screen! Plus you’ll meet DIY Science Time’s very own show animator and sound engineer!

#308 Color
Grab your paint brushes and flashlights and Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they explore the world of color: Paint vs Light! We’ll be making our very own custom water colors. Plus are you ready to take a very special science challenge? Color wheels!

#309 Flight
Explore flight with Mister C and the Science Crew. Today we will be learning about the science that gets things up in the air. We’ll build paper airplanes and hoop gliders and take your knowledge of flight to new heights!

#310 Water
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they explore the properties of water. This episode will surely be a splash as we explore laminar flow, Heron’s fountains and so much more! Plus, we’ll take a field trip to meet a water technician who tests water to ensure it’s safe!

#311 McWane Science Center
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they visit and explore The McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Meet a paleontologist, ride the high wire cycle and learn about combustion. Learning is so much more fun, when we explore together!

#312 Simple Machines
This episode couldn’t get any more simple. Mister C and the Science Crew are learning about simple machines! We’ll be building a catapult and Archimedes’ screw. Plus we’ll take a field trip meet a mechanical engineer who uses simple machines to build extrication tools!

#313 Spy Science
Join Mister C and the Science Crew as they explore the top secret world of spy science. Invisible ink, spy rings and a special field trip to the Berman Spy Museum in Birmingham, Alabama! It’s going to be spy-tacular!
