APT Microwave Replacement

Due to work on APT's 2200-mile microwave system, many of our nine transmitters will be off the air for brief periods over the next week or two.

Alabama Public Television has begun the process of replacing its aging microwave system with new equipment. This will have an impact on most of our stations  over the course of the next week or two. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The microwave is the highway over which APT's signal gets to you.  Microwave radios connect all nine of APT's transmitter sites so that our broadcasts can cover the entire state. The replacement project is like road construction without orange cones.  APT's microwave system is also the backbone of Alabama's Emergency Alert System, Amber Alerts, WARN alerts and other public safety communications. Thank you for your patience.

If you have difficulty receiving APT over the air at any point but you have a good internet connection, you can livestream APT HD, PBS Kids, Create and World Channel online.  It's also possible to livestream all four channels on the APT App, and APT HD can also be livestreamed with the PBS Video app.
