American Revolution and the 14th Colony

Join APT for a free screening, author talk and panel discussion about the role of Alabama and the Gulf South on the War of Independence.

As part of the extended educational outreach for Ken Burns’ series THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, Alabama Public Television will present a FREE screening and author talk featuring Mike Bunn, author of “The 14th Colony: The Forgotten Story of the Gulf South During America’s Revolutionary Era,” examining the role of Alabama in the War of Independence.

Join other PBS fans and enjoy a reception before watching a segment of THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION series. A panel discussion with Mike Bunn, local historian Dr. Philip J. Carr, archaeologist Sarah Price, and Andrea McGhee of the Poarch Creek, will cover the role of the Fourteenth Colony (which included West Florida, Alabama and Mississippi) and of Native American tribes in the area, in the outcome of the Revolution.

The event will take place  in the auditorium at Dahlgren Hall at Coastal Alabama Community College in Fairhope, 450 Fairhope Ave, Fairhope, AL 36532.
