Alabama Public Television's Louisville transmitter, WGIQ, will be off the air or operating at low power much of this week as a new antenna is installed on the tower. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Upgrades are underway at WGIQ in preparation for installation of a new transmitter. WGIQ will be transitioning to a new frequency this fall as part of the FCC's national reallocation of the airwaves to make more room for wireless internet broadband services. If you watch WGIQ, Channel 43 over the air, you will need to rescan for channels on your television or digital converter box on Friday, November 30 to continue receiving APT. Look for more information on rescanning in October. (If you watch APT on cable or satellite, your service provider will make take care of the change for you.)
If you would like to learn more about rescanning now, visit www.TVAnswers.org.
