Stonewall Riots

Exhibit features artifacts from momentous moment for LGBTQ community. The Stonewall Riots in New York City were a flash point in LGBTQ history. It was 50 years ago this week that gay, lesbian, trans and other gender-nonconforming people rioted at a bar called the Stonewall Inn after a police raid. Now, the New York Public Library has one of the largest collections of LGBTQ artifacts from that tumultuous period, which is now being displayed in a major exhibit, 'Love & Resistance: Stonewall 50.' NewsHour Weekend's Ivette Feliciano spoke with the exhibit's curator about what led up to this momentous action, and why it is widely seen as the birth of the modern day fight for LGBTQ rights.
