Premiere Date:Sunday, November 11, 2007
Gregory Fitch is the Executive director for the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, ACHE. ACHE is concerned about schools they refer to as diploma mills, places offering academic degrees and diplomas with little academic study and without the backing of official state accrediting agencies. Legislation to give ACHE more power to address the issue did not pass during the last legislative session because of the long impasse on bills in the Senate, but Fitch says they will continue to push the legislation. Fitch will discuss this issue and other with our panel of Alabama journalists including Markeshia Ricks of the “Anniston Star” and Dana Beyerle from the “New York times Regional Newspapers.” He will also take viewer questions when they call 1-866-552-0025.
