Alabama has played a leading role in wildlife conservation and restoration in the United States and Alabamaís state parks are a treasure of which we can all be proud. A new, one-hour Alabama Public Television special on these parks premieres this month as a complement to Ken Burnsí new epic THE NATIONAL PARKS. Alabama Public Televisionís cameras travel from one end of the state to the other, telling the story of six parks in particular: Cathedral Caverns, Cheaha, Gulf, Guntersville, Oak Mountain and Wind Creek. Discover what these great parks have to offer for families and individuals of all ages, from nature trails to fishing piers to underground wonders. Some parks have golf courses as well. Campers and daytime visitors tell what they love about the parks and why these places are so very special and important to preserve.
