It was Alabama Public Television engineers who, in 1955, linked microwave signals across Alabama and created the nation’s first statewide public broadcasting network. The Innovators recognize individuals whose annual contributions of $1,000 to $2,499 continue this spirit of technological innovation for the common good.

Founded in 1953 as the Alabama Public Television Authority, APT was the state’s first educational television station. The Educator recognizes individuals whose annual contributions of $2,500 to $4,999 continue this commitment to free, public access to educational opportunities for all Alabamians.

In the tradition of Alabama’s best storytellers, Alabama Public Television gives voice and image to Alabama’s cultural heritage. The Storytellers recognize individuals, corporations and organizations whose annual contributions of $5,000 to $9,999 tell the stories of Alabama’s people, places and history.

For two centuries, Alabama-born directors have communicated Alabama’s heritage and the
national landscape. The Directors recognize individuals, corporations and organizations whose annual contributions of $10,000 to $24,999 continue Alabama’s contribution to media excellence.

Images and stories come together to be seen and heard on Alabama Public Television. The Producers recognizes individuals, corporations and organizations whose annual contributions of $25,000 to $49,999 make possible the production of Alabama’s award-winning documentaries and programs.

Alabama Public Television brings the best of stories to the homes, schools and cultural centers located in Alabama’s crossroads, towns and cities. The Broadcasters recognizes individuals, corporations and organizations whose contributions of $50,000 or more ensure that all Alabamians have the opportunity to learn something new every day.
