New Field Trip: Gulf Detectives Episode 2 Streaming Live Oct 19th

Alabama Public Television’s IQ Learning Network presents, Gulf Detectives, Episode 2 – Animals of the Northern Gulf of Mexico, a live interactive field trip at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab for 5th – 8th Grades.

Each school year, Alabama Public Television's IQ Learning Network produces one or more Learning Adventures. These webcasts are designed to be streamed live and feature interactivity at specific, scheduled times. Join APT's student reporters as they interview experts, submit questions of your own that can be answered live, participate in live polls with instant results, and more! These field trips are also filmed and archived for viewing at any time. Participation is FREE and open to all who wish to take a field trip without ever leaving the classroom!

This episode of Gulf Detectives will follow three young science detectives as they learn about the animals of the Northern Gulf of Mexico with the help of the scientists at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The program will feature a shark research boat trip, a shark dissection, and a visit to Coffee Island to learn about the efforts by The Nature Conservancy to restore the oyster reefs in the area. The gulf detectives will also get their hands dirty with marsh mud to discover what creatures live there and what they can tell us about the health of the Gulf’s ecosystem. This Learning Adventure will teach concepts of animal habitats, animal adaptations, food webs, ecosystems, and other aspects of biology and environmental science. Join us!
