Math is Everywhere
Math and children’s literature are natural partners. Stories allow children to explore mathematical concepts that are meaningful, non-threatening, and multipurpose. Workshop participants will engage in integrated hands-on math activities using literature and PBS KIDS Programs. Participants will learn how to help children explore mathematical ideas through literature and active viewing. Children’s books and educational resources will be distributed.
Ready to Learn
Participants are introduced to the Ready To Learn service provided by Alabama Public Television. Through an orientation to the Ready To Learn Learning Triangle as the foundation, participants learn to use the television as an active learning tool by extending the viewing to books and activities and other educational and web-site resources available through
Alabama Public Television. This workshop helps parents, teachers, and
caregivers become involved with their children's learning and development
through viewing, doing, and reading. Participants will receive a First-Book
library of children's books as well as a folder of educational materials.
