Video Overview
In this segment of Marching Into History, Dr. Richard Bailey and Rev. F.D. Reese comment on what is known today as Bloody Sunday. A large group of civil rights workers marched to the Edmund Pettus Bridge, where they were halted by state troopers and violently turned back. Members of the media captured the scene, which was later broadcast nationwide, bringing much needed attention to the struggle for black civil rights. *Caution: This segment contains sensitive material - please review before sharing with students. >
